Description

PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for providing education, training, and support, both on and off site to individuals enrolled in the Employee Development Services Program (EDS). The position requires teaching in a classroom setting, and supporting program participants at community volunteer, job shadowing, and work experience (enclave) sites. The purpose is to provide the education and training necessary to advance EDS individuals into integrated community employment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

The list of essential duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task to be performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein is such duties are a logical assignment to the position.

  • Facilitate classroom training utilizing the approved Employee Development learning curriculum.
  • Provide training and support at the community-based volunteer, job shadowing, and work experience (enclave) sites.
  • Provide transportation to and from community sites.
  • Coordinate and provide (as needed) public transportation training to community-based sites.
  • Facilitate on-site Work Performance Evaluations, monitor progress, record data and complete reports, particularly log or coaching notes, accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of the Individualized Assessment of Employability.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of the Individual Employment Plan.
  • Provide feedback in determining if an individual is ready to advance to integrated community employment, remain in the EDS Program or exit the program.
  • Function as part of the interdisciplinary team by providing input on performance with recommendations to the team.
  • Serve as an advocate, when necessary, on behalf of the individual.
  • Represent the values and mission of Little City to other professionals, employers, the general public, individuals served and agency employees.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace by following and teaching individuals served safety procedures, implementing good housekeeping and proper material handling, enforcing the use of personal protective equipment when necessary and reporting all unsafe acts and conditions.
  • Work collaboratively with other agency staff and external customers to enhance communication, maintain positive work relationships, identify the needs of others, provide timely response and promote teamwork for the common purpose of internal and external customer service.
  • Ensure the dignity of individuals served by treating them with respect and understanding at all times.
  • Demonstrate capacity to manage multiple demands; with flexibility in adapting to new challenges, while maintaining priorities.
  • Maintain American Heart Association certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Successfully completes Little City required training, re-training, and any additional pieces of training required by Little City policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor.
  • Perform job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or GED required. One-year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. Ability to work with and effectively provide directions to people with disabilities. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, clients, and the community. Good written and verbal communication skills are required. Comply with Little City Drivers Requirements for the Active Drivers List. Pace eligibility/certification required.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to sitting for prolonged periods; frequently walks, stands, grasps, lifts, holds, or feels objects; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. Extended use of computer and typing is required. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working and handling office equipment. The employee is subject to assist and supports up to 25 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on a reoccurring basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate office equipment. No occupational exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases or other potentially infectious substances (Category I). Typical office environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
