Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Preparing, scheduling, and coordinating assigned design engineering projects, primarily in semi-custom production-scale machinery built to customer specifications for end use in their facilities.
- Responsible for maintaining overall engineering design and specifications of in-house equipment builds.
- Produce 3D / 2D drawings as required to facilitate customer project needs and overall design of equipment.
- Develop and implement drawing design change management process.
- Drive process standardization for designs and drawing packages optimized for manufacturing.
- Oversee overall design drawing database, retention of drawing revisions, and inputting archived drawings into database.
- Perform machined / fabricated part quality inspections to ensure dimensional accuracy to drawings; report any non-conformances to vendors.
- Develop technical knowledge of Equipment Machine Product Design and functionality – Knowledge base will be used in future product design development.
- Optimize existing equipment manufacturing & assembly designs for manufacturing efficiency and cost optimization opportunities.
- Ensure design compliance with standards, codes, policies, practices, and specifications. These include regulatory and international guidelines, as well as those of the customer.
- Work with various in-house departments on designing lifecycles, drawing organization and prioritization, and customer collaboration.
The Ideal Candidate
Desired Background
- Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline desired.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in design engineering, project engineering, or equipment integration. Professional experience with SolidWorks & AutoCAD softwares.
More specifically, we would seek the following attributes and competencies for the position:
- Knowledge & experience in design / visualization software – SolidWorks & AutoCAD.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience.
- Knowledge and experience creating 2D manufacturing drawings and specifications.
- Ability to perform quality part inspections of machined / fabricated parts to ensure accuracy to drawing (i.e. experience with physical measurement tools).
- Experience with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision.
- Exposure to drafting electrical schematics / P&ID / CAD diagrams.
- Advanced skill in MS Office Suite of tools. Comfortable with data tracking, document preparation, and giving reports / presentations.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. Travel up to 5%
- Must have good verbal communication skills and be able to write technical reports or documents for either internal or external use.
- Good interpersonal skills are needed as the person interfaces within the business and customer base.
