The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a team member on site as Fluid Dynamicist supporting Acoustics Technology Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, West Bethesda. Duties include, but not limited to:
Candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities
The successful applicant will join ATR's Engineering Services Division, working as a team member on site as Fluid Dynamicist supporting Acoustics Technology Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, West Bethesda. Duties include, but not limited to:
- Research and study high Reynolds number, impressible flow field that leads to generation of underwater sound
- Research CFD modeling on large and detached eddy simulations of external flow turbulent boundary layers and internal flows with complex geometries
- Investigate and develop unsteady fluid structure interaction and multi-phase flow simulation
- Collaborate with physical experiments performed at wind/water tunnels and scaled ship prototypes to validate numerical hydroacoustics models
- Produce technical documents and reports.
- Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or Physics
- PhD degree preferred
- 3-5 years of research experience desired
- Job experience in the Navy or other DoD laboratories is a plus.
- Understanding of high Reynolds number turbulent flows and fluid structure interaction
- Knowledge of CFD modeling and simulation tools and process
- Knowledge of acoustics measurement system
- Knowledge of advanced signal processing
- Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Able to travel to naval research and development facilities.
