Raytheon's Receiver, Exciter, and Back-End Processing (REBEP) Department is the focal point for receiver, exciter, beam steering, and signal processing technology within Raytheon. The department is responsible for the design, development, integration, and support to production builds, and lifecycle support of Raytheon products.
We have an opportunity for a Principal RF Design Engineer who is seeking to utilize their academic background and professional experience in RF / Microwave system theory and design to help develop the next generation of Raytheon’s Radar Receiver, Exciter, and Transmitter products.

We have an opportunity for a Principal RF Design Engineer who is seeking to utilize their academic background and professional experience in RF / Microwave system theory and design to help develop the next generation of Raytheon’s Radar Receiver, Exciter, and Transmitter products.
What You Will Do
- Design and development of transmitters, receivers, or exciters.
- Design and optimization of RF circuits – either chains of components (receiver, exciter, etc.) or individual parts (filters, limiters, couplers, etc.).
- Working with interdisciplinary teams – power, digital, mechanical, etc.
- Schematic capture and RF routing.
- Technical support during the transition to production and support to production activities.
- This 1st shift role will be 100% on-site and based in either Tewksbury, MA or Marlborough, MA.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 8 years’ of prior work experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ of prior work experience.
- Experience with Microwave/RF system, subsystem and/or component analysis, design and/or test.
- Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools (e.g., HFSS, ADS, CST, and/or Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition) and analytical tools (e.g., MATLAB).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required post-start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience translating system performance and operation specifications into hardware requirements, design, and test specifications.
- Background in designing for manufacturability, producibility, and cost constraints, which includes yield and margin analysis.
- Problem-solving skills with ability to proactively identify alternate solutions to overcome difficult technical challenges.
- Experience in technical / proposal writing and oral presentations.
- Technical background in any of the following areas:
- Cascade analysis and/or frequency planning
- Filter design and fabrication
- Circuit card assembly and fabrication
- High speed data converter test / characterization
- Low Noise RF source design and test experience
