Role And Responsibilities
The Retail & Small Business Banking Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing Flatirons Bank’s branches and Relationship Banker team while driving new business development. This position will primarily focus on building and deepening relationships with businesses under $1MM in revenue on the lending and deposit front, as well as managing existing clients who do not have a dedicated Relationship Manager. The position will also be responsible for coaching and developing the Relationship Banker team, ensuring they have a clear growth path within the bank.

Role And Responsibilities
The Retail & Small Business Banking Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing Flatirons Bank’s branches and Relationship Banker team while driving new business development. This position will primarily focus on building and deepening relationships with businesses under $1MM in revenue on the lending and deposit front, as well as managing existing clients who do not have a dedicated Relationship Manager. The position will also be responsible for coaching and developing the Relationship Banker team, ensuring they have a clear growth path within the bank.
Branch Leadership (Boulder & Longmont)*
- Promotes successful branch operations of both Boulder and Longmont by ensuring proper staffing, coverage, and that all operational expectations are being met by branch staff.
- Ensures that all front-line employees (Relationship Bankers and Tellers) are effective in their presentation of the Bank’s products and services and organizes coaching sessions with individual staff members to reinforce these skills and the importance of delivering an exceptional client experience.
- Develops and executes strategies to enhance branch efficiency, streamline workflows, and improve overall client engagement. Leverages data insights to identify operational improvements that drive profitability and long-term growth.
- Provides effective client service by answering client questions; investigates and corrects errors; and resolves problems or other issues.
- Monitor and analyze branch deposit reports, providing insights to senior management on trends and performance.
- Evaluates staff’s work performance and provides feedback through consistent and ongoing coaching and communication; conducts effective performance appraisals and takes corrective action whenever necessary.
- Reinforces the application of superior client service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow-through with involved clients and employees.
- Makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts based on bank policy and risk management guidelines.
- Assists with the development and attainment of internal performance objectives.
- Conducts or oversees training for new employees to ensure established procedures are clearly understood and followed.
- Responsible for ensuring that deposit account records are accurately maintained and that all policies, procedures, and compliance-related activities are completed accurately and on time
- Adheres to Bank policies, government regulations and legal requirements.

- Proactively develop and deepen relationships with small business clients (primarily
- Act as the primary relationship manager for business clients that are not assigned to a Commercial Relationship Manager, identifying opportunities for additional products and services.
- Serve as a key representative of the bank at community events, networking functions, and client meetings to promote Flatirons Bank’s services.
- Work collaboratively with the bank’s Business Development and Commercial Lending teams to refer and close business opportunities.
- Develop and implement strategies for attracting and retaining business clients while cross-selling deposit and treasury management products.
- Utilizes market insights and client data to optimize business development efforts, ensuring targeted outreach to high-potential clients. Continuously refines acquisition and retention strategies to align with evolving client needs and market trends.
- Manage an ongoing review of existing client relationships to ensure the bank is meeting their evolving financial needs.
- Utilize the bank’s CRM to track and manage client interactions and opportunities.
- As needed, prepares new account documentation for all types of deposit products (including checking, savings, and certificate of deposit accounts for both consumer and commercial clients) and boards each account into the Bank’s core accounting system.
- Discusses, prepares and sets up clients for electronic banking services and other cash management products.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to the Relationship Banker team, helping them build career paths within the bank.
- Develop training programs and one-on-one mentorship opportunities to strengthen Relationship Bankers’ sales and service capabilities.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to drive high levels of engagement and productivity.
- Recognize and reward high performers, fostering a culture of motivation, engagement, and continuous learning within the team.
- Work closely with Relationship Bankers to help them explore other areas of the bank (e.g., Treasury Management, Commercial Lending, Credit, or Business Development) based on their skills and interests.
- Provide exposure to different banking roles through cross-training opportunities, job shadowing, or short-term project involvement in other departments.
- Identify leadership potential within the team and develop those individuals for future management or specialist roles within the bank.
- Aligns team development with branch growth objectives by equipping Relationship Bankers with the skills and strategic mindset needed to drive both client acquisition and service excellence. - Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in banking, preferably in a client-facing or leadership role within branch banking, business development, or relationship management.
- Proven ability to manage and develop a team, with experience coaching employees in sales, service, and career growth.
- Strong knowledge of small business banking products and services, including deposits, treasury management, and lending.
- Experience in business development, client acquisition, and cross-selling financial products.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, team members, and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities effectively.
- Ability to analyze financial information and provide tailored banking solutions to clients.
- Proficiency in CRM and banking systems, with the ability to track and manage client opportunities effectively.

- Willingness to travel regularly between the Boulder and Longmont branches as needed.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- The position’s pay range is anywhere between $90,000 - $105,000
- The position is eligible to participate in the production compensation plan
