As a licensed professional engineer, you will enter at the Staff Engineer level.
As an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) you will enter at the Engineer-in-Training level.
After successful completion of each step, wages may increase as outlined below:

- Engineer-in-Training – starting wage: $27.22
- Associate Engineer - starting wage: $30.42
- Staff Engineer - starting wage: $34.92 - $37.33
- Staff Engineer 1 - starting wage: $37.33
- Technical Engineer Services Leader - completion wage: $41.50
Examples Of Duties
- Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work, as part of a major project or a total project of moderate scope.
- Perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
- Requires a broad knowledge of precedents of the engineering discipline.
- May supervise professional staff and/or a large number of technical staff.
- Licensure: Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE); or eligible for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12;
- Experience: analyzing, interpreting and applying federal, state and local laws when applying professional engineering principles and practices; writing technical engineering reports; evaluating, selecting and adapting standard engineering plans, specifications and standards in completing projects; coordinating field work and inspecting projects or facilities for compliance with standards.
- Valid driver's license.
Candidates must meet one of the following criteria within 6 months of employment offer:

- Certification by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers as an Engineer-In-Training;
- OR Certification as an EIT from another jurisdiction that included graduation from a four-year engineering curriculum accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET);
- OR graduation from a four-year engineering curriculum accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) PLUS verification that the candidate has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Examination.
- Valid driver's license.
