Job Description
As a Waste Management Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing waste management processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and minimize environmental impact. Your primary duties will include overseeing Total Waste Management (TWM), designing and implementing comprehensive waste management plans, conducting waste stream analysis, and collaborating with cross-functional teams for process optimization.
Responsibilities
The facility is still in start-up mode, with heavy construction, equipment moves, and installations ongoing. Flexibility with duties is required during the start-up phase. Possible overtime and some weekend work may be needed, but regular hours are expected to be Monday-Friday. The facility is highly automated and climate-controlled, offering a comfortable working environment. Responsibilities
- Oversee Total Waste Management (TWM) to ensure waste is managed, stored, and disposed of according to regulatory and corporate environmental requirements.
- Manage and review waste profiles, characterizations, and shipping manifests.
- Design and implement comprehensive waste management plans that align with regulatory requirements and company sustainability goals.
- Conduct thorough analysis of waste streams generated during production processes to identify opportunities for reduction, reuse, and recycling.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize production processes and minimize waste generation at the source.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance waste management efficiency, sustainability actions, cost reductions, and minimize environmental risks.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations, including air quality, water quality, and waste management.
- Conduct regular environmental inspections and monitoring activities to identify potential areas of concern, track key performance indicators, and ensure ongoing compliance with environmental standards.
- Support agency inspections and internal/external audits.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the plant's environmental footprint.
- Provide environmental training to plant personnel to ensure awareness and compliance with environmental policies and procedures.
- 3 years of experience in waste management or a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related degree.
- Knowledge of waste management (solid, hazardous, universal, and wastewater).
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, compliance requirements, and ISO 14001.
- Experience with environmental safety, environmental engineering, and EHS.
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
