Position Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Lube Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance on heavy equipment, including lubrication, oil changes, and fluid checks. This role is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of construction, mining, and other heavy machinery by adhering to preventative maintenance schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform lubrication services on heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and other machinery.
- Change engine oil, hydraulic oil, and other fluids as required by the equipment maintenance schedule.
- Grease and lubricate all moving parts, including bearings, joints, and pins, to ensure smooth operation.
- Check and refill all fluid levels (coolant, brake fluid, transmission fluid, etc.).
- Replace air, fuel, and oil filters according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Conduct basic inspections to identify potential mechanical issues and report them to the supervisor.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained to meet safety and performance standards.
- Maintain accurate service records and ensure timely documentation of all maintenance activities.
- Safely handle, store, and dispose of lubricants and oils in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Operate equipment to check for proper performance after servicing.
- Work independently or with a team to maintain the fleet on-site or in the field.
- Communicate with operators and other personnel to schedule maintenance and report issues.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure tools and equipment are in good working condition.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a lube technician or in heavy equipment maintenance is preferred.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment systems, lubrication, and hydraulic components.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals and manufacturer specifications.
- Familiarity with proper lubrication procedures, tools, and equipment used in servicing heavy machinery.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and in field environments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
- Valid driver’s license required, CDL or heavy equipment operator certification is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally more with assistance.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and in potentially dirty or hazardous environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
- Must be able to safely climb on and off large equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 55 per week
