Position Overview :
Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, we are seeking an experienced Controller located in San Diego, CA. This position is a hands-on leadership role that will be primarily responsible for the accounting function. Primary areas of ownership will include the financial statement close process, accounts payable, stock plan administration, revenue and inventory accounting, tax, and maintenance of accounting systems. This role will also oversee the implementation and ongoing efforts related to compliance with SOX 404(b). This will be an on-site position Monday-Thursday, with remote location flexibility on Friday.
Key Responsibilities of the Role :
- Management of the monthly / quarterly accounting close (5 business days)
- Preparation and maintenance of annual budgets and long-range forecasts
- Preparation of GAAP financial statements for internal and external reporting
- Drive timely and accurate reporting to monitor monthly and quarterly financial changes, headcount, forecast, capital expense tracking, and other financial reporting
- Provide support to the department heads to create transparency around key financial parameters and assumptions, including revenue and script forecasting, supply chain management and spending controls / limits
- Cash management and treasury
- Serve as primary coordinator for auditor engagements
- Management of stock plan administration and accounting
- Oversee accounts payable function
- Oversee the accounts receivable function and proper accounting of gross-to-net revenue
- Interface with external tax advisor on relevant tax matters
- Implementation and maintenance of accounting and other finance systems
- Implementation of accounting policies and procedures
- Responsible for Sarbanes Oxley 404 (b) compliance
- Preparation of audit committee materials
- Responsible for corporate insurance renewals
- Effectively hire and a manage team members in the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and accounting staff

May, on a continuous basis, sit at desk for a long period of time, intermittently answer telephone and write or use a keyboard to communicate through written means. Some walking and lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Frequent out-of-town travel may be required.
