Responsibilities
- Review and discuss project goals, objectives, design standards and procedures with Project Manager, Specifications Manager, Director of Design and Director of Architecture
- Lead role in coordinating the preparation of technical specifications for multi-disciplined team of Architects, Interior Designers and Engineers
- Lead role in producing architectural specifications that are consistent with overall design intent and detailed drawings
- With Specifications Manager, create and maintain office-wide Master Specifications
- Review drawings so as to maintain consistent language between drawings and specifications
- Research products/materials as required to assist architect, engineers, and interior designers. Provide consultation to team on current and available products and materials
- Attend internal meetings to ensure design specifications are coordinated with drawings
- Prepare formal written amendment/addendum documentation as necessary to clarify drawings and specifications
- Assist with evaluation and response to product substitution requests
- Maintain technical resource library and listing of technical resource contacts
- Performs other duties as assigned or instructed
Qualifications
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Highly proficient in specification software such as CSI-Masterspec, SpecsIntact and e-Spec
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to communicate effectively and openly to all team members
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplined team
- Ability to formulate sound and educated decisions based upon available information; strong self-confidence
- Excellent time management and organization skills. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and produce results within deadline
- Thorough working knowledge of current construction materials and methods
- Ability to interact positively with the staff of the architectural and engineering disciplines in a Collaborative Team Environment
- Strong knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED guidelines
Education and License Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university in Architecture or related field
- Professional expertise demonstrated through 10 years of progressive experience working with various project types
- Construction Specifications Institute Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) preferred
- Current affiliation and/or membership of local, state, or national industry organization(s) is a plus
- LEED® Accredited Professional is a plus
