JOB TITLE : CRYOGENIC TECH I

JOB PURPOSE :

The position is responsible for receiving / transferring bulk shipments of liquefied gases and operating / maintaining equipment for producing, storing, and transferring such gases. Incumbent builds / maintains gas transfer systems and cascades gases up to a pressure of 3,000 pounds per square inch gauge. Additional duties include recording disbursements on instruments and loss rates of storage and transfer operations.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • support the government-managed ordnance explosives and incendiary munitions material to include explosive hazardous waste munitions and managed munitions section by providing operations element support, document control functions, stockpile management support, material and explosive waste handling, shipping / receiving support and on-site transportation operations.
  • Perform document validation / quality control procedures, processing, and filing of all accountable / auditable transactions / documents and supporting non-accountable transactions / documentation IAW DAFMAN 21-201, Munitions Management.
  • Non- electronically signed accountable documents (i.e., scanned shipping documents) will be electronically signed by munitions personnel before permanent filing to prevent Update movement / inspection / inventory schedules for munitions stockpiles and custody
  • Perform as munitions inventory count or recount team members.
  • Coordinate with Government personnel to clear any inventory discrepancies.
  • Process all required transactions (inventory counts, recounts, IADs, etc.) for all annual, semi-annual account inventories
  • provide customer support, including deliveries / shipment / receiving for all AFRL munitions / energetics users.
  • Assist government personnel in the preparation of Munitions / Hazardous Materials shipments.
  • shall be trained and certified to package, ship, and certify Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) shipments
  • Receive, mark, label, tag, and issue munitions
  • Understand and comply with all requirements for munitions storage location, segregation, and inventory requirements IAW DoD, AF, and local directives.
  • Store, receipt, issue, inspect inventory, and track HAZMAT
  • Process site program requests for HAZMAT before granting authorization to purchase or use.
  • Ensure all requests for HAZMAT have authorization before issue and ensure requests to acquire new hazardous materials are being monitored and tracked through the approved HMMP approval system
  • Record the receipt of HAZMAT against the correct Safety Data Sheet
  • Support government operated Special Fuels / Propellants / Cryogenics operations and operate the AFRL Fuel & Propellants Storage Area
  • receipt, track, inventory, issue, stock, store, and inspect fuels / propellants and containers, tube trailers, and gases / cylinders
  • As required by GPM, request customer forecasts for specified gas / cylinder, fuel, and propellant commodities and assist with annual forecasting to the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to ensure product availability to customers
  • In coordination with GPM, prepare, process, and coordinate inbound and outbound product shipments.
  • Coordinate, consolidate, and submit customer gas cylinder orders for the Government
  • validation / submission, tracking gas cylinder order progress, and coordinating with GPM when issues arise.
  • Maintain current and historical order and funding documents, source data, order and funding spreadsheets and initiate follow-up actions with vendors and customers as required
  • Update inspection / inventory schedules for cylinder stockpile and special fuel stocks.
  • Monitor, update, and maintain the Fuels Tracking System (FTS) and track cylinders, fuels, and propellants materials
  • Complete and document in FTS monthly inventories and manage / track product movements of stockpile cylinders and propellant / fuels
  • Provide control of gases / fuels / propellants, plans and scheduling, operations, storage, inspection, and transportation support. Maintain maintenance and inspection program for all AFRL fuel / propellant / gas assets.
  • Schedule and accomplish maintenance for stockpile assets
  • Conduct high-pressure cylinder handling, maintenance, and inspection IAW AF TO 42B5-
  • 1-2, Gas Cylinders (Storage Type) Use, Handling, and Maintenance
  • Properly identify, mark, label, and tag pressure cylinders, containers, and products IAW AF and manufacturers requirements.
  • Ensure storage compatibility requirements are maintained
  • Maintain qualifications to handle and have knowledge of composition, properties and characteristics of fuels and propellants, including toxic, explosive, and fire hazards and emergency, spill, and environmental protection procedures
  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

    Must have certifications / licenses as well as the capability to work with the following operations and systems :

  • Operation of vehicles to transport equipment / material
  • Computer and Administrative skills :
  • Understand filing systems, electronic filing, creating / utilizing Word documents and Excel spreadsheets,

  • sending / receiving / reading / replying to email and instant messages,
  • phone etiquette and taking / delivering phone messages.
  • Government Records Management processes.
  • Training is required for personnel identified by the Contractor as a Unit Records Professional.

  • General warehouse operations and safe execution of those processes. Consistent with DoD Manual 4140.70, DoD Supply Chain Material Management Procedures for Storage Handling.
  • EDUCATION :

  • High School or GED
  • EXPERIENCE :

  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience for the position
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Current Active Security clearance
