LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE (through the end of the school year)
Position: 9-12 Teacher/Advisor
Qualifications: Current MA Teaching License, Math or Science preferred
Leominster Center for Excellence (LCE) is seeking a passionate, creative, and insightful educator. LCE is a small innovative high school and a member of the Big Picture Learning network. Teachers at LCE lead an advisory of no more than 15 students as they engage in educational experiences that are rooted in real-world learning. Responsibilities of the advisor include:
- Planning and implementing an individualized program of instruction that capitalizes on students’ interests and real-world learning.
- Assessing and documenting each student’s progress through various formative and summative assessments, marking period narratives, phone calls and meetings with parents, and weekly student meetings.
- Guiding students as they seek and explore internship opportunities.
- Assisting students in the development of interdisciplinary projects that demonstrate grade-level knowledge and skills, and incorporate real-world learning experiences.
- Collaborating with other educators to support and challenge all students.
- Contributing to the creation and maintenance of a positive school culture and community.
- Planning and teaching relevant content and skills to prepare students for higher education with a focus on Mathematics.
- Ensuring that all students graduate with a viable five-year plan for success.
