The initial salary may be up to 15% above the minimum salary based on verified related education, experience, and training above the minimum requirements.
The required schedule for this position is Monday-Friday.
Monday : 12 : 15pm-9 : 15pm
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday : 9am-6pm
Friday : 9 : 15am-6 : 15pm
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
This position provides professional social work support to citizens in the library. Work involves developing and providing direct services and appropriate referrals; providing information and training to library staffs; representing the library system with area social service agencies, governmental entities and other relevant organizations; and supervising social work interns from local universities.

DIFFICULTY
Duties require independent judgement especially in referring patrons to appropriate social service agencies. Decisions focus on day-to-day activities within the County. Decisions made at this level help to ensure that daily activities proceed smoothly and therefore help to move the County toward reaching a strategic goal.
RESPONSIBILITY : Supervision Received
Job duties are defined and standardized, requiring significant independent judgement in determining work methods for the accomplishment of desired results. Employee must be autonomous. The supervisor makes assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines, and assists the employee with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. The employee plans and carries out successive steps and resolves problems and deviations in accordance with instructions, policies, and accepted practices. The supervisor reviews the work for technical adequacy and conformance with practice and policy.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CUSTOMER CONTACT
Employee has regular and frequent contact with internal staff and external customers. The purpose of the contact typically involves answering inquiries regarding work processes and providing information.
EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED
Personal computer, word processing / spreadsheet software, and a vehicle.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is performed mainly indoors at a desk. Position may require walking for periods of time and / or standing for long periods of time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and two years of related experience, preferably as a social worker or counselor in a library, government, non-profit, or school setting; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A Master's degree in Social Work is preferred .
Necessary Special Requirements :
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's license and have a favorable driving record.
All Leon County employees (regular full-time and part-time, OPS, and PRN) are required to work before, during and after a Declared Local State of Emergency (DLSOE). Participation is considered a condition of employment.
Selection Guidelines :

FLSA STATUS : Position is Exempt. Position currently meets the administrative / professional exemption, salary test, and acts with discretion and independent judgment in the performance of work assignments. Position is supervisory.
