Salary: $45,510 per year ($21.88 per hour); negotiable with significant experience in property tax and/or tourist development tax.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist taxpayers, lienholders, and other interested parties with information related to property taxes and non-ad valorem assessments.
- Receive and record tax payments remitted for property taxes and non-ad valorem assessments.
- Resolve and collect unpaid property tax debts from individuals and businesses, and address issues associated with those unpaid property tax and non-ad valorem assessment debts.
- Process certificate of corrections to the tax roll submitted by the local property appraiser and other taxing authorities.
- Complete tasks associated with creation of and the mailing of tax bills, including reviewing and revising reports, manuals, brochures and other printed materials associated with office’s mass mailings.
- Prepares and reviews tax deed applications for certification to the clerk of the court.
- Assist customers with other issues related to the property tax collection like processing applications for various payment plans, notating accounts for customers who have filed bankruptcy, and drafting individualized payment plans for tangible personal property plans.
- Performs all related work to the tax administration process, as required.
Job Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (or commensurate work experience.)
- Minimal knowledge and understanding of Florida Statutes relating to the duties and responsibilities of county tax collectors.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of modern office procedures, practices and equipment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
