We are growing substantially and searching for Pipe laborers to join us and support our growth.
Pipe laborers carry out the initial groundwork and installation for construction by laying down pipes that provide sewage disposal, drainage, water, and gas. They work under the guidance of the Utility Foreman.
OSHA 10-Hour a plus.
We’re looking for hard workers and team players who have strong attention to detail.
RESPOSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Give hand signals to the operator.
- Position pipe and seal joints.
- Check slopes and grades using lasers, builder’s levels, and levels.
- Cut pipe to required lengths using chop saws and handsaws.
- Install or repair sanitary sewer or storm water structures.
- Use rigging properly and inspect carefully.
- Grout pipes.
- Raise boxes and manholes to grade.
- Install pipe for water, storm, sewer and conduits.
- Install or use pipe lasers, grade rods and transit levels.
- Dig trenches as required, by hand or using other trenching tools.
- Locate existing utilities with shovels and other hand tools.
- Tap holes in manholes and other pipes, as necessary for service connections.
- Hand-tighten to specified tension all mechanical joint fittings.
- Mix concrete and pour thrust blocks by hand.
- Use compression fittings for water services.
- Install meter boxes.
- Install fire hydrants.
- Glue fittings using appropriate sealant.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven work experience as a pipe layer.
- Detailed knowledge of construction and pipe fitting techniques.
- Knowledge of sewer systems, storm drains, and water mains.
- Experience with machine-operated trenching tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and city maps.
- Excellent physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy objects.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in harsh weather conditions.
