Overview
The Accountant II supports DRS Systems, Inc. financial, contractual, and government compliance objectives through partnering with Team members and other stakeholders throughout DRS. This position affords the opportunity to not only be key contributor within our Business Unit, but also collaborate with others throughout the enterprise.
Duties
· Supports the daily activities associated with financial analysis and support, cash management (AR and AP), and customer billing activities
· Supports Contract Close-out activities by assessing financial performance, Balance Sheet profile, and other analysis in support of timely close-outs
· Customer billing responsibilities on multiple customer billing platforms
· Interface with Contracts on issues relating to contract management and compliance
· Prepares various journal entries as assigned, in support of monthly close cycle
· Utilize enterprise financial reporting suite to issue financial statements
· Prepare Account Reconciliations ensuring that subsidiary ledgers reconcile to general ledger
· Assist with financial analysis as requested, either from within the Team, or in support of Business Unit inquiries
· Participate in annual Tax Package preparation and support
· Assist with annual Incurred Cost data gathering and submissions
· Monitor key Balance Sheet accounts (re, Unbilled Receivables, AR, Advances, and Inventory), identifying opportunities to clear balances
· Participate in Team efforts to improve processes and add greater value for internal / external stakeholders
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least 3 years directly related of experience, preferably in a government contracting environment (or equivalent combination of education/training and experience)
· Experience with Deltek CostPoint suite of products (or equivalent)
· Experience with government billing platform Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) for customer billing and analysis preferred
· Critical thinker, possessing ability to apply principles of accounting to monitor and analyze financial information, and prepare specialized reports
· Experience in preparing journal entries, financial statements, and related account reconciliations
· Maintain records of disbursements and expenses
· May contribute to the design or modification of accounting systems
· Contribute to improving processes and procedures
· Ensure adherence to and communication of accounting policies and procedures
