Leonardo DRS Land Systems is looking for a full time Electrical Engineer II for our Goleta, CA facility to support program teams in the development of electrical solutions. This role will consist of supporting electrical efforts from the concept generation phase through rapid prototyping and production hand-off. Responsibilities include involvement with the design, development, modification and analysis of various electronic products/systems. Designs include electronic assemblies, rugged cables and circuit card assemblies. This position will also be involved in troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctions in existing products or systems and make modifications as needed.
- Involved with the design, development, analysis, testing and debugging of military hardware and/or systems
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Develop prototypes to retire key development risks as directed
- Responsible for technical activity and completion of assigned task on time and budget
- Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems
- May use computer-aided engineering or other design/analysis software in the performance of assignments.
- Report of progress and status regularly
- Review customer specifications and requirements, and under direction, develop designs to best support them, including cost as a key design variable
- Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
- Specify and evaluate supplier components, subsystems and services
- Support the program design to cost and design for manufacture requirements
- Develop prototypes to retire key development risks
- Communicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as required
- Participates in preparation of less-complex proposals
- May provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
- Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
- 2 years of related experience
- Basic knowledge of engineer principles of design
- Basic knowledge of computer assisted design (CAD) tools
- Basic knowledge or experience with engineering drawing applications
The expected pay scale for this position is $77,818.00/year - $101,164.00/year for the state of California. Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate's relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
