Position Summary : Sets up, programs and operates computerized controlled equipment capable of performing multiple machining operations. Loads work, checks numerical data, and total runs jobs. Use precision measuring tools to verify machining operations. Takes corrective action and repositions as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work from blueprints, sketches, or computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) files.
- Program, set up operate, and tear down manual, automatic, or computer numeric controller (CNC) machine tools.
- Calculate dimensions using measuring instruments and calculator.
- Install, align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and work pieces.
- Monitor the feed and speed of machines.
- Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind machine parts to specifications.
- Measure, examine, and test completed products for defects.
- Deburr all surfaces of parts or products to ensure that they conform to specifications.
- Produce multiple quantities of parts, especially parts requiring the use of complex operation and great precision.
- Determines the cutting path, the speed of the cut, and the feed rate by programming instructions into the CNC machine.
- Controls purchases and inventoried CNC related tooling (Cutters, Drills, Taps, Bars and Etc.).

Physical Demands .
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear, frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and occasionally required to stand; walk, climb or balance; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work schedule for this classification is full-time. Incumbents must work a full-time (30) hours or more per week schedule.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and is exposed to non-air-conditioned areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate where hearing protection is necessary based on OSHA requirements.
