Summary:
The Whey Team Lead Operator is responsible for the knowledge of whey production operations including pasteurizer, evaporator, crystallizer, spray dryer, mill, sifter and packing. The Whey Foreperson position is a working foreperson and must be capable of disassembly, assembling and making minor adjustments to all whey production equipment. The Whey Foreperson must be able to understand the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), follow safe handling of hazardous chemicals, and keep accurate record-keeping as required. Must be able to communicate effectively to train and provide instructions to employees and exchange information with supervisors. This position also directs housekeeping efforts.
Schedule:
Leprino Foods is a 24/7 operating facility; the employee must be willing and able to workdays or nights. The current vacancy is on night shift, from 5:00pm-5:30am. Our schedules run 12 hours on a 2-2-3 rotation that allows for every other weekend off.
Pay Rate:
$32.36per hour
$1 per hour weekend differential for all hours worked between 12:01am Saturday morning through 11:59pm Sunday night
$0.75 shift differential for all evening hours worked between 6pm and 5:59 am any day of the week.
Responsibilities:
Conduct training of hourly employees as required
Prepare employees for JTPR completion
Enforce GMP and safety policies
Inspect each area of the production process on an hourly basis
Verify the data each area is recording for accuracy and operation within set parameters
Monitor production process to meet required customer and regulatory specifications
Troubleshoot any equipment or operation failures
Communicate any issue to the Cheese Department that may affect either department.
Enter quality alerts
Issue maintenance work orders
Inspect equipment for potential extraneous and recommend repair or replacement
Complete Shift Summary and communicate status at pre-shift meeting
Forward employees concerns and issues to Whey Supervisor or Whey Manager
Perform special projects as assigned
Lead pre-shift meetings
Cover for positions as needed
Back up the Whey Supervisor as needed
All other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to work Sunday - Saturday, off-shifts, weekends, holidays, and required overtime to support a 24 hour/7 day operation.
Preferred skills:
Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
Experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in a dairy/food manufacturing environment.
Technical background.
Prior cheese with whey processing, dried dairy, and/or pharmaceutical production or similar process.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Familiarity or ability to learn SAP, or similar integrated manufacturing system.
Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office products.
Prior experience in a leadership position
Physical Demands & Environment:
This position will be exposed to our operations environment - both wet and dry production areas with loud noise and varying degrees of temperature from freezer to extreme heat.
Bending, squatting, reaching, and climbing upstairs/ladders are required throughout the shift.
Standing and walking are required throughout the shift.
Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods.
Must be able to lift and carry moderate weights repeatedly throughout the shift.
Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. hourly, climb a ladder, and walk up/downstairs regularly.
