Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer
Job Location: 305 Franklin Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201, and various unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S.
Duties
LER TechForce, LLC seeks a Principal Systems Engineer in Columbus, Indiana, and various unanticipated worksites throughout the U.S. Telecommuting permitted 3 days/week. Duties: support all phases of automotive product development with emphasis on planning, analysis, evaluation, integration, testing and acceptance phases; lead, facilitate and document Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), engineering change management, action item tracking, risk analysis activities, and interface analysis; lead quality triage analysis for research and prototype projects, and stay abreast of new technologies and competitor products; gather requirements and support vehicle systems level test case development; build models and develop test cases to validate serial data communication and diagnostics protocols over vehicle CAN bus; use data flow definition to select tools and processes for product and system development activities; work with engineering, R&D, product management, business development and account managers to support the development, validation and management of stakeholder needs and product architecture and design to meet customer needs; lead design feasibility studies for product development activities; support engineering development, validation and management of system requirements; integrate product systems and subsystems; support verification and validation (V&V) activities (development of test suites and test cases for V&V of control systems, development and execution of test plans, V&V tracking and reporting, defect management); participate in cross-functional team and technical management review group meetings; lead cross-functional team root cause analysis activities using quality problem-solving tools; coach and train entry-level systems engineers, and mentor team members to solve complex problems.
Requirements
Master's degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field such as automotive systems-MSEN, and 4 years of experience in any engineering or technical role which included at least one of the skills listed below. Included within the 4 years of experience, must have experience in all of the following: requirements management, DFMEA, DVP&R, and feasibility studies; boundary diagrams, state flow diagrams, and functional and interface analysis; automotive controls systems; vehicle test case design, development, validation, and debugging; APQP and root cause analysis; quality problem-solving tools (5 Whys, 8D, and Fishbone); product development, validation setup, specifications, and hardware connections; communication protocols (CAN, CANOE) and vector tools; MATLAB and Simulink; vehicle/bench validation techniques.
In lieu of master's degree, will accept a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or related field such as automotive systems-MSEN, and 6 years of post-bachelor's, progressive experience in an engineering or technical role which must have included the skills listed above.
