We have a position for an experienced sensor engineer to assist with design, development, analysis, and release of sensor products and subsystems through the product life cycle.
Job Location: Local to Columbus, Indiana area and capable to travel into the office 2-3 days each week.
What you will be doing:
- Assists in creating design specifications considering application, cost, weight, performance, product life, manufacture, assembly, and service.
- Verifies design using analysis and or functional testing, interprets results, drives decisions, and assesses risk.
- Works with other engineering disciplines and cross-functional disciplines to resolve product issues.
- Evaluates customer needs and aligns requirements with identified customer expectations.
- Participates as a team member and actively contributes towards team goals.
- Carries out partially defined and moderately complex tasks.
- Demonstrates good understanding and applies knowledge of an engineering discipline.
- Applies engineering and/or scientific skills and continues to develop experience in creating engineering solutions.
- In this role, the person would interact with Customers, Suppliers, and peers on developing sensors. This person would be the point of contact on various sensors.
- Attend & Schedule Weekly Meetings for responsible components.
- Lead and complete design reviews to achieve release of components.
- Coordination of all activities for technical customers, suppliers, and technicians to speed development of new sensor products
- Review and document FMEAs between suppliers and customers using standard format.
- Work cross-functionally to create, review, and document sensor technical profiles.
- Create and manage to a project schedule utilizing Microsoft Project as the main tool.
- Procure, inspect, and deliver sensors to customers for performance, reliability, bench, and field-testing.
- Create, revise, review, release, and document specifications (Performance, source approval, inspection, and application).
- Create development verification plan and report for performance, reliability, and durability testing. Review Design Validation test results and resolve issues using the 7-step problem solving process or Fault Tree Analysis.
- Prepare and deliver technical status presentations utilizing Microsoft Powerpoint software.
- Write Engineering Job Requests for releases of drawings, part numbers, specifications, and etc.
- Conduct cross-functional design reviews and document in Technical Reports.
- Perform warranty analysis and partner with suppliers to improve product quality
- Write test procedures to be followed during Design Validation and Production Validation testing of product.
- Maintain workplans based on Customer Led Quality objectives and initiatives.
- Deliver product meeting Engineering Standard Work procedures.
- Lead Rapid Problem Solving activities supporting the Problem Quality Committee for current production product.
- Utilize Six Sigma/Functional Excellence to improve work processes.

What you'll need to be successful:
- College, university, or equivalent Bachelors degree in engineering, physics, chemical engineering, electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Sensor experience required.
