Lead Driveline Systems Engineer – Drive the Future of Vehicle Powertrain Innovation
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Driveline Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the intricate interfaces and interactions between components and subsystems within the driveline system for one or more vehicle programs. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams, including release engineering, virtual engineering, vehicle design, purchasing, quality, manufacturing, and field service.
As the driving force behind successful program execution, you will be responsible for overseeing critical components such as Axle & Driveline Systems, developing and implementing robust system designs, and utilizing DFMEA/DRBFM processes to achieve operational excellence. You will ensure that all design milestones are met while maintaining a high standard for quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery.
This role requires strong leadership, technical proficiency, and the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively across a variety of teams. You will manage system design reviews, lead benchmarking efforts, and drive key decisions on vehicle packaging, part complexity, and system integration. Your role will also include leading program design reviews, supporting leadership reviews, and ensuring that critical program deliverables are met on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the driveline system design, interfaces, and interactions between all driveline subsystems across multiple vehicle programs.
- Oversee assembly part number complexity charts and drive clear definitions for all axle and driveline systems.
- Lead benchmarking activities and manage driveline system packaging within the vehicle environment.
- Collaborate with release and development engineers to develop robust virtual and hardware-based system DVP&Rs.
- Utilize DFMEA/DRBFM methodologies to ensure high-quality and reliable system design.
- Drive program success through active leadership in design reviews, gate reviews, and tracking of deliverables.
- Ensure timely resolution of open issues and facilitate effective communication with leadership teams.
- Lead or support root-cause analysis and resolution of customer field issues and manufacturing/assembly concerns.
- Maintain transparency by providing regular project updates to leadership and other stakeholders.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or related Engineering field from an ABET-accredited university.
- 5 years of experience in design release, development, and validation of driveline/axle/AWD systems.
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams and driving collaborative efforts across various departments.
- Expertise in creating a positive team environment, providing clear direction, and demonstrating technical leadership.
- Strong knowledge of driveline systems and related technologies, with proficiency in utilizing MS Office.
- Stellantis vehicle driving required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Experience with virtual tools and simulation for driveline/axle systems.
- Experience with system DVP&Rs, DFMEA/DRBFM, and program management best practices.
