JOB LOCATION:
In Office and with potentially planned Hybrid days each month, Columbus, IN
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Collaborate cross-functionally with a multi-disciplinary team of Electrical Component and Frame Design Engineers to confirm and modify wire designs and connection points to meet both internal and external customer requirements.
- Create 3D models of wire harnesses for both prototype and production stages.
- Develop 2D part drawings of wire harnesses for prototype and production stages.
- Lead the wire harness component of major design projects, taking responsibility for all stages and working with internal and external customers/suppliers to achieve goals within the required schedule.
- Validate and support wire harness parts and routing during the prototype stage to ensure design and functionality meet requirements.
- Troubleshoot failures using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
- Train, educate, and mentor team members, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Prepare technical data and documentation for reporting in meetings and design reviews.
- Participate in simultaneous engineering meetings and reviews with suppliers and internal departments to evaluate, discuss, and revise designs to meet all requirements.
- Create and manage parts lists and Engineering Change Instruction documentation.
- Demonstrate an understanding of physical and environmental requirements, utilizing this knowledge to make informed engineering decisions regarding wire harness composition, layout, and routing
- Maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- 3 years of experience, preferably in off-road, construction, or powered industrial vehicle applications with a focus on wire harness design.
- Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in design tools such as CATIA V5 Electrical Workbench, Zuken CR-5000 Harness Designer, or other wire harness CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks).
- Strong knowledge of Internal Combustion and Electric Powered Industrial Vehicle application.
