The Computer Operator I monitors and controls large and small-scale computer systems running a variety of operating systems in a 24 x 7 data center environment. The position operates all equipment associated with LERETA's computer systems, tape systems, printers, and is tasked with completing daily batch processing and reporting. The role is competent to work on most phases of computer operations.
Computer Operator
- Works a 4/10 schedule (4-days / 10-hours per day) environment that requires working either day or night shift per the department needs / requirements * Monitors multiple computer systems (Mainframe, Microsoft Windows, Linux) * ·Loads tapes for batch processing, updating and backup cycles as required * Operates peripheral equipment as needed * Breaks down print reports as needed * Reports on abnormal occurrences and takes corrective action * Performs proper system shutdown and brings the system back up (recovery) * Operates and performs maintenance functions on all equipment in the Data Center * Maintains operating records such as generator statistics, power usage and operations checklists * Monitors the data center environment for tasks such as air conditioning, humidity levels, monitoring water detection systems, reporting abnormal occurrences and takes immediate corrective action * Works with IT staff and business areas to resolve issues * Documents all environments / processes as required * Manages and monitors production schedules as required in IBM mainframe running z/VSE and the following products:
- z/VSE running power with Customer Information Control System (CICS) online systems

Required Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent * Proficiency Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel and Word * Ability to type 35 wpm (minimum) * 1 or more years of mainframe or computer experience (Microsoft Windows and Linux)
