What are the responsibilities and job description for the SCIENCE TEACHER position at LeRoy Central School District?
The Le Roy Central School District is seeking a 1.0 FTE secondary science teacher (Grades 7-12) for a probationary appointment beginning in September 2025. The position will be for Earth Science Regents class among many other opportunities in extracurriculars. We are seeking an individual to join our top-notch Science department which is highlighted by our strong annual Regents and AP results. The department also boasts many high-level learning opportunities through AP Chemistry and AP Biology.
The Le Roy Jr./Sr. High School has 550 students in grades 7-12, 70 staff members, and has a proud tradition of academic excellence and maintains high behavioral standards. We have a very diverse and vast course catalog that allows our students to challenge themselves and expand their horizons. Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will:
- Prepare and teach Regents Earth Science in accordance with NYS curriculum and standards
- Prepare and instruct literacy rich science courses
- Prepare and instruct academic support for science students
- Stay current in research-based instructional practices and pedagogy, NYS standards, assessment, curriculum, and Response to Intervention practices
- Maintain and enhance collaboration with team members and department members
- Utilize technology to maximize instruction and learning
- Promote social emotional learning and restorative practices
- Demonstrate a desire to advise extracurricular activities and/or serve as a coach for an athletic team
