OVERVIEW
The Equestrian Program Supervisor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of Anne Springs Close Greenway's Equestrian Program. They will have a wealth of equestrian experience, particularly in running equestrian programs such as summer camps, boarding, birthday parties, trail rides, exceptional equestrians, lessons, and more. The ideal candidate is a team player who is willing to pitch in whenever necessary and has a positive and outgoing attitude. This person will work closely with the Equestrian Manager to ensure a safe and well-rounded equestrian operation. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of equine care and training, riding instruction, and a passion for providing a safe and enjoyable equestrian experience.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Supervise Equestrian Program Operations
- Primarily responsible for all aspects of the Equestrian department’s programs summer camps, boarding, birthday parties, trail rides, exceptional equestrians, girl scout programs, family farm days and more.
- In conjunction with the Equestrian Manager, develop and implement program policies, procedures and safety protocols
- Develop and implement program plans focused on foundational principles, horsemanship and safety
- Teach lessons and facilitate programs to a range of skill levels
Privately Boarded Horse Management
- In conjunction with the Equestrian Manager and Equestrian Admin, support the Greenway horse boarding program including all administrative components
- Communicate with boarders and ensure their needs are met
- Perform regular checks of Dairy Barn Entrance horses ensuring fence lines are in good condition, horses have proper forage and water troughs are working and clean
- Monitor the introduction of new horses to any herds
- Drag boarder riding arena and ensure it is in good condition
- Report any concerns to the Equestrian Manager
Team Management
- Recruit, train and manage all equestrian program staff
- Foster a positive environment for staff, students and volunteers
- Conduct regular evaluations and observations of all staff in programs
- Ensure all programs are adequately staffed with the appropriate level of trained staff
Horse Care and Training
- In conjunction with Equestrian Manager and Equestrian Trainer and Supervisor, ensure horses are receiving adequate care and training
- Responsible for reporting any horse health concerns to the Barn Manager
- Responsible for finishing the training on new horses to ensure they are ready for program as well as touch up rides on horses in the program
- In conjunction with the Lesson Supervisor and Trainer brings on new horses and young horses as they become accustomed to the program
- Responsible for all in the saddle training needed for program horses
Administration
- Responsible for smooth administration of program
- Always provides a high level of customer service
- Actively recruits feedback on programs and uses data from these to continually evaluate and improve programs
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Minimum of 2 years experience teaching English riding lessons, including jumping up to 2ft
- Extensive horse care and riding experience required including the ability to prepare horses for a lesson program and identify and address standard horse health concerns
- Certified Riding Instructor or equivalent qualification preferred
- Strong administrative skills and ability to manage and prioritize a variety of tasks
- Proven supervisory skills and ability to work on a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- First aid and CPR (will train)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Some physical requirements could be endurance-related, including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, and extensive horse riding. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate participant activities/programs. Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50lbs; exposure to inconsistent weather conditions such as sun, heat, or rain and animals such as bugs and snakes, etc.
