What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kayak Attendant position at Leroy Springs & Company INC?
OVERVIEW
The Kayak Attendant operates kayak rentals on the weekends, Wednesday and Friday evenings (June/July), and holidays. Must have excellent people skills and be comfortable in and around water. Kayak attendants will help guests get outfitted safely for kayaking and help guests in and out of their kayaks. The attendant will also handle guest check-in and care for equipment. Previous kayak experience is not required but is preferred.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Assist them in wearing an appropriately fitted PFD, getting in/out of kayak and giving basic paddling advice (training provided)
- Must participate in water rescue training; comfortable executing maneuvers to help get a person out of the water
- Cares diligently for the equipment, making sure it is put away tidily and carefully and reports any repairs needed
- Attends scheduled staff meetings and trainings
- Adheres to all Company policies, procedures and standards set by the Company
- Other opportunities may arise to earn extra hours in our Outdoor Programs department
- Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Must be at least 16 years of age
- First aid/CPR and lifeguard certifications preferred, will train
- Must be available weekends and holidays
- Must participate in water rescue training; comfortable executing maneuvers to help get a person out of the water
- Strong swimming skills are encouraged but not required
