Job Overview:
The Asset Protection Lead is responsible for managing and overseeing the protection of company assets. This includes analytic oversight and strategy implementation aimed at minimizing loss, preventing theft, and ensuring the safety and security of company assets, employees, and customers. This role involves applying security measures, monitoring compliance with company policies, investigating theft or fraud incidents, and training staff on asset protection best practices. The Asset Protection Lead will work closely with store management and corporate leadership to ensure operational integrity and reduce shrinkage.
Responsibilities:
Asset Protection & Security:
- Monitor store operations to identify potential theft, fraud, or policy violations.
- Implement security protocols to protect company assets, including inventory, cash, and equipment.
- Conduct routine audits and inspections to ensure compliance with asset protection policies.
- Utilize surveillance systems, point-of-sale analytics, and other tools to detect and deter theft.
- Build analytic reporting frequencies to monitor progress, track results and identify key areas of opportunity
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify security weaknesses and create actionable resolutions.
Incident Investigation & Resolution:
- Investigate internal and external theft, fraud, and operational losses.
- Document and report security incidents, thefts, or safety violations.
- Work with law enforcement and legal teams when necessary to prosecute theft or fraud cases.
Employee Training & Compliance:
- Develop and deliver training programs for store associates and other employees on asset protection protocols including theft prevention, security procedures, safety protocols, fraud detection, and how to report suspicious activities.
- Ensure team members follow best practices for handling cash, high-value inventory, and customer transactions.
- Conduct safety training and enforce OSHA compliance to reduce workplace accidents.
Operational Support:
- Collaborate with store managers and regional leadership to develop and implement asset protection strategies.
- Identify trends in shrinkage and develop action plans to mitigate losses.
- Assist in inventory control processes, including cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of security systems (e.g., surveillance cameras, alarm systems) to ensure they are functional and effective in monitoring company assets.
Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in asset protection, loss prevention, or retail security.
- Strong knowledge of theft prevention strategies, safety regulations, and investigative procedures.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, collaboration and leadership skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Experience with security systems, CCTV monitoring, and fraud detection tools is a plus.
- Certifications in the relevant fields of Asset Protection, Loss Prevention, Interview and/or Investigations are a plus
