POSITION TITLE: OUTREACH WORKER
STATUS: NON EXEMPT PART TIME
REPORTS TO: REIMAGINE PROGRAM MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Reimagine Outreach Worker under the direction of the Reimagine Program Manager, will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of specific activities aimed at meeting the targeted outcomes for the Reimagine Program. Individual must be energetic, creative, team oriented, and able to stand, while taking part in activities throughout the evening.
- Engage directly with students in assigned groups (high school, middle school, or transitional) to foster educational and personal growth.
- Act as a mentor and role model, providing support and guidance to students.
- Facilitate access to community resources, enhancing students educational and social opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Reimagine Program Manager and other staff to align outreach strategies with program goals.
- Other duties as assigned
SKILLS:
Interpersonal: The Outreach Worker will be responsible for working on a one-on-one and on group basis to implement specific activities, including but not limited to providing Academic and Homework Assistance, Conducting Life Skills Classes, Providing one-on-one Mentoring, Assisting in the development of Parental Involvement Opportunities, Creating Volunteer and Community Service Projects.
Team Building and Development: The Outreach Worker should possess the ability to continually validate youth through positive words of praise and encouragement. Must also possess the ability to motivate youth in planning short and long term goals.
Exceptional Communication and Influencing Skills: As a voice/advocate of Lessie Bates Davis Neighborhood House, the Outreach Worker will have strong written and verbal communication skills. They will be a persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. This individual must work collaboratively with internal, as well as external partners and other organizations, providing exposure for program impact in a variety of professional and other outlets.
The Outreach Worker must possess the ability to deescalate behavioral incidents.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in youth outreach, mentoring, or education.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of local community resources and how to access them.
- Other Information:
- Ability to identify with specific student age groups.
- Employment contingent upon grant approval.
