Job Summary
- The Registered Nurse in our Colo-Rectal Clinic will be trainined in the management of patients with urinary and fecal diversions (i.e. ostomies), draining wounds and fistulas, fecal and urinary incontinence. The nurse will assess patient condition, change dressings, and mark ostomy sites pre-operatively. The Ostomy nurse provides support and education to patients and their families, including but not limited to pre and post-operative teaching, wound care, ostomy care, and ostomy appliance maintenance/trouble-shooting. When not seeing ostomy patients will function as a clinic office nurse.
Job Requirements
Education
- Required: Graduate of an approved nursing program
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience
- Preferred: One year of bedside nursing experience within the last five years
- Preferred: Previous recent acute care med/surg nursing experience
- Preferred: Wound and/or Ostomy experience
Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate effective leadership abilities
- Exhibits valuable time management skills
- Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills
- Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: MO RN license
- Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Preferred: Must obtain a CWOCN, CWS, or CWCA certification from NAWCO, WOCNCB, or ABWM within 18 month of hire
