The Plant Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of our manufacturing facility, ensuring production goals are met efficiently, safely, and within budget. This is a working manager role, meaning you will be hands-on in production activities, problem-solving, and directly supporting the manufacturing team to drive operational excellence. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will manage production processes, staff, and quality standards while driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture of accountability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Oversight:
- Manage and optimize all aspects of the production process to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet business goals and customer demands.
- Oversee daily manufacturing processes and adjust resources as needed to maintain optimal performance.
- Lead daily standups with the manufacturing team to align on priorities and expectations.
Staff Management:
- Hire, train, and supervise production staff, including Manufacturing Leads, Assembly Technicians, and Operations Coordinators.
- Evaluate employee performance and provide coaching and development opportunities.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop new processes to improve output and quality.
Inventory and Warehouse Management:
- Oversee inventory levels and ensure accurate physical counts are conducted regularly.
- Coordinate warehouse operations to maintain organization and efficiency.
- Manage shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Quality Control:
- Establish and maintain quality standards for products.
- Investigate and resolve production issues to minimize defects and downtime.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to ensure compliance with industry standards.
Budget and Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the plant’s operational budget.
- Monitor costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Ensure resources are used efficiently to minimize expenses.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
- Actively participate in safety inspections and corrective actions.
What You’ll Need:
- 2 Years of Experience in a Leadership Role, preferably manufacturing
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing or plant management
- Expertise in warehouse procedures and best practices
- Proven ability to implement process improvement initiatives
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in production planning and scheduling software
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Experience with driving forklifts is preferred
