About the Role:
We are hiring multiple UX Design apprentices. This apprenticeship will provide hands-on experience in UX design, with a specific focus on accessibility and WCAG 2.2 compliance. The ideal candidate is excited about creating user-centered solutions, understands the importance of inclusive design, and is eager to contribute to meaningful projects that drive change.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accessibility Evaluations: Use a 125-point WCAG 2.2 checklist to assess websites for accessibility barriers, identifying and documenting areas for improvement.
- Heuristic Analysis: Conduct usability testing and heuristic evaluations to enhance website functionality and user experience.
- User Research: Develop and execute research plans, and synthesize findings from stakeholder interviews and survey results to inform design direction.
- Prototyping and Ideation: Develop wireframes, prototypes, and design concepts that prioritize user-centered design principles and accessibility best practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with designers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of accessibility features.
- Documentation and Reporting: Create detailed presentation decks and reports highlighting key findings and actionable recommendations for clients.
- Accessibility Tool Research: Test accessibility tools and document how to use them to enhance your expertise and provide a knowledge base for others to learn from and reference.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in UX design, accessibility, and WCAG guidelines.
- Be Coachable: Stay curious and empathetic in all situations, personal and professional. Be willing to receive–and meaningfully act upon–reasonable feedback regarding personal and professional behavior.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Familiarity with accessibility guidelines, such as WCAG 2.2
- Basic Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Penpot, or Adobe Creative Suite
Additional Qualifications
- Analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and improve usability
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Self-awareness and emotional intelligence
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus, or bring a willingness to learn
- Familiarity with web platforms like Squarespace, WordPress, and/or Shopify is a plus
