Thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site specialty practice. This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of ophthalmology billing, and the ability to lead and train staff under the guidance of the Revenue Cycle Manager.

This position requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of ophthalmology billing, and the ability to lead and train staff under the guidance of the Revenue Cycle Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Support: Process oriented teamplayer will assist in overseeing the daily functions of billing, coding, claims submission, payment posting, and denial management across all 5 locations.
- Claims Management: Ensure timely and accurate submission of claims through TriZetto, or other clearinghouses. Troubleshoot and resolve rejections.
- EHR/PM Proficiency: Utilize NexTech for charge capture, claim edits, and revenue cycle workflows. Train staff on best practices in the system.
- Denials & AR Follow-Up: Analyze denial trends and assist with appeals and follow-up processes to ensure minimal aged receivables.
- Patient Billing & Collections: Assist with patient account resolution, including payment plans, refunds, and billing questions.
- Compliance: Monitor adherence to payer rules and ophthalmology-specific coding guidelines (including modifiers and LCDs/NCDs). Support the implementation of regulatory updates.
- Training & Support: Provide guidance, support, and performance feedback to billing staff. Serve as point of contact when the Revenue Cycle Manager is unavailable.
- Reporting: Assist in preparing AR aging, productivity, and denial reports. Recommend improvements based on trends.
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure accurate documentation and charge capture, supporting a seamless revenue cycle.
Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, or related field preferred.
Experience:
- 10-15 years of medical billing experience in a specialty or high-volume practice (ophthalmology preferred)
- Experience working with NexTech, Availity, TriZetto, or similar EHR and clearinghouse systems
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers in Florida
- Supervisory and Leadership experience preferred
- People management training experience is a plus
Skills & Competencies:
- Solid understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and ophthalmology coding/billing rules
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task across locations and manage deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analytics tools
