General Position Summary
The Athletics Assistant supports the Director of Aquatics and Athletic Programming in managing day-to-day operations of athletics programs. This part-time role focuses on program execution, coaching, and facility management, ensuring participants have positive and enriching experiences.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement daily coaching plans for various sports programs.
- Coordinate coaching schedules to ensure adequate staffing for all activities.
- Assist with recruitment and registration for athletic programs.
- Support pay-to-play and open play activities, manage participant check-in and monitor activities.
- In conjunction with the Athletics Director, oversee all practices, games, and events.
- Oversee rentals for fields and courts, coordinate with renters to ensure smooth operations.
- Set-up and maintain fields and courts for games, practices, and events.
- Perform regular inspections and basic maintenance to ensure safe and functional facilities.
- Organize and distribute trophies, T-shirts, and other participant awards.
- Assist in the development of new athletic programs by providing input and support during planning phases.
- Communicate with participants, parents, and coaches to address program-related inquiries.
- Communicate regularly with staff and management and provide additional assistance when requested.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in athletics programming or coaching.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have good computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) as well as Outlook and Google.
- Knowledge of field and court maintenance procedures.
- Must have a level head and have the ability to take control of emergency situations, including but not limited to: rendering first aid, calling 911, and following emergency protocols. Must have current certifications in CPR and First Aid (or ability to obtain upon hire.)
Physical Requirements:
- Must have the ability to walk, run, bend, stoop, lift (generally not more than 50 lbs), climb, push, pull, and work in all types of weather conditions. Position is mobile the majority of their shift.
Lifting (ability to lift up to 50 pounds).

Shift:
- Schedule changes by season. Typically, Jan - May is M-Thurs 1 pm - 6 pm. Summer camps/sports begin in the morning - afternoon. 20- 30 hours per week.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in Recreation or Sports Management preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in athletics programming or coaching.
