General Position Summary
Be a part of a great team of individuals helping to create a positive and enjoyable experience for our youth as well as adolescent and adult members and guests.
As the Levite Jewish Community Center youth sports programs continue to expand, we are looking for individuals who are energetic, positive, reliable, and motivated to teach/coach our youth and who will assist with other non-coaching tasks such as directing, overseeing, and delegating programs such as adolescent/adult basketball, pickleball, etc. The coaches are responsible for teaching all youth sports programming such as soccer, basketball, flag football, Try Sports program sports camps, etc. The coaches also assist other coaches in our collective goal to provide the best experience for all.
Essential Functions
- Provide excellent service by encouraging and supporting sports participation, education, coaching, and guidance; monitor the programs and participants, and ensure general safety and equipment usage; oversee and enforce codes of conduct, rules and policies including, but not limited to, age restrictions, dress codes, language and proper use of LJCC equipment and facilities.
- Transport/lead youth from the LJCC preschool classrooms to their respective practice locations at the LJCC.
- Coach and train youth (and adolescents/adults as needed), in the proper use, care, and cleaning of the applicable practice and program spaces.
- Develop/create practice plans for each program or practice.
- Integrate the mission of the LJCC and follow the core values of responsibility to create, serve, and enhance the community through our mission each and every day.
- Understand the prevention, detection, and treatment of injuries, basic emergency procedures, and the legal and professional responsibilities of coaches.
- Assists LJCC Fitness Director with administrative tasks that include keeping accurate records of programs, activities, etc.
- Monitor pay-for-play
- Assists in program, practice, and event set-up and clean-up.
- Any and all other duties assigned by management.
Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Previous coaching experience preferred, but not required
- Experience in and knowledge of all youth sports such as soccer, basketball, flag football, etc.
- CPR, First Aid, AED, prior to employment or within 30-days of hire
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with youth, adolescents, adults, members, guests, co-workers, management and professional staff.
- Ability to complete required duties on a day-to-day basis.
- Physical Demands: Ability to walk, sit, stand, run, reach, bend, stoop, climb, and lift (at least 50 lbs.). Position requires constant movement.
- Moderate to loud noise
- Must be able to handle confidential/sensitive information of our members and guests with the utmost discretion.
