About the role
This position is responsible for deployment and maintenance of optical / copper testing equipment and software to ensure the quality and functionality of product by thoroughly evaluating its features against specified requirements, identifying defects, ultimately contributing to the delivery of a reliable and high-performing product; key responsibilities include detailed optical testing and characterization, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the highest quality and performance of optical / copper products.
This role provides the opportunity to work within the Network Solutions Business Unit of Leviton Manufacturing Company Inc.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and execute testing strategies to verify the performance, quality, and reliability of products, primarily fiber optic / copper cables assemblies, and connectors.
- Specify, deploy, utilize, and maintain test equipment such as power meters, optical sources, switches, interferometers, optical scopes, copper meters, and other optical / copper measurement tools.
- Define and coordinate implementation of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to monitor product test data and other manufacturing processes.
- Centralize and control test data to allow for analysis to assess product performance, identify issues, and verify compliance with product specifications and applicable standards.
- Responsible for assuring optimized testing process testing cycle times.
- Work cross-functionally to address complex optical / copper testing problems and contribute to root cause analysis.
- Prepare comprehensive test reports, including detailed data analysis, test methodologies, and performance validation results. Present findings to engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and procedures to ensure that optical systems meet high-quality standards and performance criteria.
- Develop and implement calibration procedures for optical / copper test equipment.
- Ensure that all tests and procedures comply with applicable standards.
- Perform regular maintenance and upgrades on optical test equipment.
- Work with suppliers to source the best equipment and parts for testing needs.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest optical testing technologies and methodologies.
