Overview

This position is responsible for learning the fundamentals of building and repairing new and existing dies, tooling, and automation components in a safe, clean, and efficient manner under the guidance of experienced toolmakers.

Responsibilities

• Assures for all assigned equipment, safety guarding is in place and all areas of the machines are clean, neat and organized
• Begins the process of understanding:
• Tooling specifications, blueprints, and sketches
• Set up and operation of mills, lathes, grinders, including CNC controlled, and other machining equipment
• Making and repairing cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges
• Takes direction from experienced toolmakers or from the Tool Room Manager
• Learns to analyze the assignment and proceed in a professional, timely manner until the assignment is complete
• Gains an understanding of completing assignments in a timely manner within proper quality specifications
• Peforms additional duties as assigned
  

Qualifications/Skills

• Ability to gain knowledge of using precise measuring instruments
• Self-motivated and capable of retaining knowledge acquired from experienced toolmakers
• Interest in attaining knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance
• Ability to communicate clearly
• Ability to work as part of a team and take direction properly
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook at a basic level
• Ability to focus on a single source of sound in the presence of other distracting sounds
• Ability to communicate in verbal and written English
• Requires standing, walking, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, and feeling
• Requires eye/hand/foot coordination
• Requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds

• High school diploma or equivalent required
  
  

Travel
