Job Title: Video Camera Operator

Position Classification: Part-time, Seasonal

Time Commitment: This is a seasonal position with working hours from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on select Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings during the Levitt concert season, spanning May 23 to August 31, 2025. Additionally, there are occasional Saturday morning shows and festivals that fall outside the regular schedule.

Compensation: $30 per hour

Location: Levitt Shell, Sioux Falls, SD (in-person)

Reports To: Operations Manager

Position Overview: The Video Camera Operator for the Levitt Shell in Sioux Falls is responsible for capturing high-quality video footage during concerts and live events. This role involves operating cameras, collaborating with the production team, and ensuring the video content meets the creative and technical standards required to enhance the audience experience and support promotional efforts.

Responsibilities: Live Event Camera Operation:

• Operate cameras during live events, capturing dynamic, high-quality footage of performances and audience interactions.

• Follow direction from the Video Production Director to ensure seamless, dynamic, and professional video coverage of concerts and events.

• Adjust camera angles, focus, and settings in real time to maintain professional visual standards.

Pre-Event Preparation:

• Assist in running cables, setting up cameras, tripods, and other related equipment before events.

• Conduct pre-event tests to ensure all video equipment is functioning properly.

• Collaborate with the production team to identify optimal camera placements and shooting angles.

Technical Proficiency:

• Monitor and adjust exposure, focus, framing, and movement to achieve the desired visual effect.

• Troubleshoot minor technical issues with camera equipment during events.

• Ensure equipment is properly maintained, stored, and transported safely.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Work closely with the Video Production Director and other team members to execute the creative vision for each event.

• Communicate effectively with the video team to capture key moments and performance highlights.

Key Qualifications: Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; advanced training or certification in videography, media production, or related field is a plus.

• Proven experience as a camera operator, preferably in live event or concert settings.

Skills and Competencies:

• Proficiency in operating video cameras (e.g., DSLR, mirrorless, or professional camcorders).

• Strong understanding of camera settings, including exposure, white balance, and focus.

• Ability to follow direction and adapt quickly in dynamic live event environments.

• Excellent attention to detail and framing.

• Strong physical stamina for extended periods of standing and operating equipment.

• Demonstrate a strong sense of musicality and timing, with the ability to anticipate and capture key moments in live music performances, ensuring dynamic and engaging concert livestreams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with multi-camera live production setups.

• Familiarity with video streaming platforms and technologies.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift, push, and carry 50 pounds; stand for extended periods of time; and traverse the grounds of an outside, sloped venue in all kinds of weather

• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Must be able and willing to work a significant number of events, including regular evenings and weekends during the summer
