Vice President of Finance Operations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Design, implement, and communicate the strategic direction and objectives for the Accounting and Payments departments in alignment with the credit union's overarching goals, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
• Oversee the preparation and timely submission of financial statements, analyses, forecasts, board reports, liquidity assessments, regulatory filings, and other vital financial documents.
• Lead the credit union's accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger configuration, reconciliations, subsidiary ledgers, and fixed asset maintenance.
• Manage the asset / liability management process, addressing interest rate risk, liquidity risk, and equity assessment. Present findings and lead discussions in Asset Liability Committee meetings.
• Formulate and implement investment strategies that align with balance sheet and liquidity objectives, including investment analysis and bond accounting management.
• Coordinate the budgetary process, ongoing financial reporting, and tracking variances for the credit union's annual budget.
• Ensure accurate determination of the allowance for loan losses, establishing appropriate credit loss reserves according to GAAP and regulatory guidance.
• Provide strategic insights regarding payment systems, identifying requirements, testing, and implementing necessary changes.
• Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the Accounting & Payments Department, ensuring adherence to current regulations and compliance with GAAP.
• Monitor cost control initiatives and implement strategies as needed.
• Contribute to the determination and recommendations for deposit and loan rates.

Supervisory Responsibilities : Directly manage the AVP of Accounting & Payments while indirectly overseeing the Accounting and Payments teams, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and applicable laws in all supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience : Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field with a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications : Candidates must successfully perform each essential function and may require reasonable accommodations. Effective communication is essential, capable of interpreting business publications, technical procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Strong writing, analytical, mathematical, and reasoning abilities are required alongside proficiency in advanced accounting systems and spreadsheet software.

Other Qualifications : Willingness to travel for ongoing training as necessary.

Physical Demands and Work Environment : While performing duties, the employee regularly sits, uses hands, reaches, and communicates. Occasionally, standing and walking may be required. The employee may lift / move up to 25 pounds and requires specific vision abilities for close distance and adjusting focus. The work environment noise level is typically quiet.

Salary : The salary for this position ranges from $113,000 to $188,000 annually, contingent upon experience.
