What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Director position at Lewes Yacht Club?
Are you passionate about the water and working with youth? Do you have a knack for leadership and a love for the outdoors? We’re looking for a dynamic Summer Sailing Camp Director to lead our youth sailing camp program, ensuring a fun, safe, and enriching experience for our campers. SAILING EXPERIENCE IS NOT REQUIRED!
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Development: Implement our existing sailing camp curriculum that caters to various skill levels. Recognize points for improvement and strive to be better every day, every summer.
- Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of sailing instructors, ensuring they provide exceptional guidance and support to campers.
- Safety First: Maintain a strong focus on safety protocols, ensuring all campers have a secure and enjoyable experience on the water.
- Engagement: Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages teamwork, confidence, and a love for sailing among campers.
- Communication: Connect with parents, providing updates on camper progress and addressing any concerns.
- Events & Activities: Organize and oversee fun, engaging activities both on and off the water, team-building exercises, and more.
- Housing is NOT INCLUDED
Qualifications:
- Sailing experience is NOT REQUIRED.
- Previous experience as a teacher or in camp leadership is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of water safety practices.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate young sailors.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain prior to camp).
