What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Advisor position at Lewis and Clark Community College?
Scope of Position
Responsible for providing basic career counseling and academic advising service for all current and prospective students.
Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)
- Maintain a caseload of students (prospective and returning)and advise them of educational planning for Associate Degree programs, and Certificate programs, registration, graduation requirements, college policies and procedures, and transfer requirements.
- Introduce new students to the college through teaching MyLC, New student Orientation and providing campus tours.
- Participate in transfer resource center activities in the Enrollment Center;
- Participate in general student recruitment activities such as study skills presentations, college and career nights, community based organizations and other recruitment duties as necessary;
- Complete unofficial graduation checks.
- Maintain active and clear communications regarding programs and policies with academic division.
- Articulate programs and transfer process with four-year colleges/universities.
- Attend articulation conferences.
- Advise students on caseload with academic problems and refer them to the appropriate campus resources in an effort to increase retention and success.
- Maintain computerized appointment calendar.
- Perform registration/data entry activities using student info system (Self Service and Colleague).
- Assist the High School Liaisons with testing, placement, and registration of our High School partnership students.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with two years work experience in a student service setting. Good computer, writing, and communication skills.
- Availability to work flexible hours to meet student needs including evening hours on Tuesday and Wednesday and some weekends.
Team Members can expect to be paid a salary between $51,595 to $69,654, which includes an excellent benefits package. The salary will be based on a combination of relevant education, training, work experience, and skill competencies.
