What are the responsibilities and job description for the Carl Perkins Manager position at Lewis and Clark Community College?
The Carl Perkins Manager at a community college plays a critical role in ensuring that career and technical education programs meet the needs of students, industry, and the community. This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act funds to enhance career and technical education (CTE) programs.
Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs):
- Oversee, implement, and ensure currency and compliance with Carl Perkins grant requirements for the College.
- Translate and present grant information to faculty, staff, and career and technical program coordinators in an effort to ensure students receive necessary services.
- Develop programs, services, and policies to meet grant requirements.
- Work with the Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) in preparing the Carl Perkins Special Populations budget, assessing needs and requirements and making budgetary recommendations to meet grant requirements.
- Work with students individually to discuss, assess and meet needs.
- Provide information to students concerning the Perkins program, eligibility requirements, benefits stemming from the program, and where to attain Perkins services.
- Responsible for writing mandatory state reports on Perkins activities, accomplishments, successes, needs, concerns, grant application (in conjunction with VPAA).
- Write and mail Perkins informational letter to all students in Perkins programs.
- Access student records and information and comply with FERPA regulations.
- Collect and maintain data files on Perkins Special Populations students as to identification, trails, and services received.
- Collect, maintain, and prepare statistical analyses from data collected from all Perkins-funded service providers (paraprofessionals and tutors).
- Supervise Perkins-funded paraprofessionals, staff and tutors
- Responsible for preparing Perkins success/accountability data (graduation data, paraprofessional and tutoring grad data, etc.).
- Identify Perkins students and determine which students are eligible for Special Populations Students assistance.
- Develop and implement new methods of serving special populations students’ needs
- Responsible for obtaining, purchasing, and distributing Special Populations student supplies, material and curriculum materials.
- Assist in the coordination of career and technical faculty and Perkins personnel in-services.
- Attend state and regional Special Populations conferences and meetings.
- Attend WIOA meetings
- Plan/coordinate state regional Special Populations meetings held on campus.
- Assist in the coordination of career and technical faculty and Perkins personnel in-services.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Three years of related work experience in grant funded programs required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous grant management experience preferred.
In this grant funded position, Team Members can expect to be paid a salary between $55,035 to $74,297 which includes an excellent benefits package. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
