Position Goal Statement:
Teach and assess student learning outcomes in Basic Nurse Assistant Training. In collaboration with colleagues, you will be responsible for ongoing curriculum evaluation and improvement within the context of LCCC’s general education objectives and articulation requirements. You will facilitate student learning outside of the classroom through participation in student activities, college, and community events. You will help maintain and grow the program capabilities of the Nurse Assistant Department. You will participate in obtaining and administering existing and future campus grants. This position may include a combination of day, evening, or off-campus assignments, involving lectures, labs and clinicals.

Key Measurable Expectations (KMEs)

  • Learner-centered Instruction: Teach Basic Nurse Assistant Training according to relevant student learning objectives. Regularly assess student learning to continuously improve instruction. Teach evening and/or off-campus courses, if necessary. Provide office hours conducive to student schedules.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and/or revise course(s) in collaboration with colleagues. Propose and develop interdepartmental course offerings that meet the articulation requirements in Nurse Assisting.
  • Technology: Integrate instructional technology as appropriate in the discipline of Nurse Assisting, including appropriate use of laboratory equipment. Be willing to learn to use on-line course delivery and/or web-enhanced course components, should the need arise.
  • Involvement: Support College-wide initiatives and serve on committees. Mentor and support adjunct faculty in Nurse Assisting.
  • Professional Development: Initiate and maintain active participation in professional development opportunities that encompass the disciplines of Nurse Assisting and teaching effectiveness.
  • Participate in the student learning assessments required by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) or other accrediting or governmental agencies. This includes, but is not limited to, submitting relevant data, attending assessment meetings, and implementing improvement strategies based on assessment outcomes.
  • Preparation of reports ,reviews, self-studies, for program approval and educational agencies
  • Student advisement and admissions process for the program
  • Development, review, and revision of program courses and policies
  • Maintenance of program and student records.
  • Maintaining of supplies, materials, and equipment for the program
  • Compliance with IDPH regulations and requirements including, but not limited to, master schedule submission and revision, and program updates
  • Assurance of background check compliance of students
  • Facilitation of competency test application submission
  • Development of the schedule for CNA classes and assignment of faculty to the sections
  • Interviewing and oversight of adjunct faculty members

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college/university required
  • Registered Professional Nurse licensed in Illinois.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience as a registered nurse.
  • Illinois Department of Public Health approved Basic Nurse Assistant Training instructor including: theory, Alzheimer's Disease training, and skills evaluator.
  • Skills and experience to work in a collaborative manner with colleagues, administrators and the community.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the community college required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Teaching experience at the college level in Nurse Assisting preferred

Full-time faculty base salaries are determined by education level and experience, and come with an excellent benefits package.
