PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Associate Director of Donor Engagement, Communications focuses on fundraising communications within the Donor Engagement Department and reports to the Director. This role is primarily responsible for developing and executing a multichannel direct marketing fundraising strategy, crafting compelling fundraising appeals, and managing project workflows to support the Annual Fund's goal of securing over $2 million annually. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional persuasive writing skills, strong project management experience, fluency with manipulating data in spreadsheets, and experience in utilizing digital marketing tools. To be successful in this position, the individual must excel at managing multiple projects simultaneously, balancing creative and operational demands, and analyzing campaign results to drive continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Fundraising Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement a multichannel direct marketing strategy for annual fundraising campaigns.
- Create and manage the donor solicitation and communication calendar across print, email, social media, and digital platforms.
- Write and tailor compelling fundraising appeals to various donor groups, including alumni, parents, and faculty/staff.
Project Management & Workflow Coordination
- Manage communications schedules and workflows to ensure cohesive branding and messaging.
- Oversee the execution of fundraising campaigns, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with departmental goals.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth project flow and on-time completion, handling multiple campaigns simultaneously.
Data Management & Analysis
- Utilize Slate CRM (or equivalent) to create and send email campaigns, and manage giving day events such as Day of Giving and Giving Tuesday.
- Organize, segment, and analyze donor data using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets to ensure accurate, effective communication.
- Track and evaluate campaign performance to inform future strategies and enhance fundraising efforts.
Vendor & Relationship Management
- Manage relationships with strategic partners and vendors, including printers, graphic designers, and videographers.
- Coordinate with the Communications team for messaging, design, and production support of donor communications.
- Liaise with Advancement Services to request donor lists and fundraising reports for targeted outreach.

- Extremely skilled in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite, with the ability to manipulate data and manage complex spreadsheets for fundraising efforts.
- Superior analytical skills with the ability to assess and improve marketing campaign effectiveness through data-driven insights.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and clarity in all donor communications and materials.
- Skilled in using contemporary digital marketing tools and platforms, including email marketing, social media management, and online giving systems.
- Highly motivated and results-oriented, with a strong sense of accountability for meeting or exceeding fundraising goals.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Three years of experience in fundraising, marketing, or communications.
- Three years of persuasive writing experience or equivalent, demonstrating expertise in crafting compelling messaging.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- Four years of experience managing fundraising campaigns or marketing initiatives.
- Experience working in higher education or nonprofit organizations, particularly with annual giving programs.
- Proficiency with design layout and photo editing tools such as Canva or Photoshop.
WORK SCHEDULE
- Full Time: 37.5 hours/week

- Assists as needed at events, including occasional evening and weekend work.
PAY RATE
- FLSA Status: Exempt
- $60,000-$63,000 depending on experience.

Salary : $60,000 - $63,000
