Position Title : Political Engagement Organizer

Division : Student Life

Department : Center for Social Change and Community Involvement

Reports to : Director of the Center for Social and Community Involvement

Hours per week : 5-8

Pay Rate : $16.00 / hour

Department Vision :

The Center for Social Change and Community Involvement offers a number of programs to prepare Lewis & Clark undergraduate students to engage impactfully, both locally and globally, in order to bring about active citizenship and social change.

PURPOSE :

The Political Engagement Organizer will coordinate events, voter registration / education campaigns, and activities to increase democratic participation among LC students. The Political Engagement Organizer will collaborate with on campus partners such as clubs, athletics, and campus living, to encourage intentional engagement in local, national and international political issues. This position will also collaborate with off campus partners to host educational workshops and build a volunteer base at LC related to promoting democracy and encouraging civic engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Host Fall and Spring Voter Registration / Education Drives at L & C.
  • Host events and activities related to National Voter Registration Day, Election Day, Political Debate Watch Parties, etc.
  • Coordinate events that promote dialogue across different political perspectives.
  • Coordinate educational workshops & opportunities for action related to international political issues.
  • Assist with organizing field trips and volunteer projects that focus on promoting democracy.
  • Create digital content, website material and graphics related to voter and civic engagement.
  • Envision and uphold L & C's institutional commitment to promoting democratic engagement on campus.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings, mandatory training and assist with CSCCI Projects as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Proficiency with Google Suite software
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Preference will be given to candidates who can commit to a minimum of 2 years in the position.

    Eligibility to Work

    In order to comply with US Homeland Security Department regulations, all employees must complete an I-9 form in Workday prior to or no later than the first day of work and bring originals (no photocopies) of their supporting documentation to Human Resources no later than the 3rd business day of employment. Failure to have a completed I-9 form on file with the College will result in immediate termination of employment.
