What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Academy Instructional Assistants (Elementary) - Multiple Positions (TEMP) position at Lewis & Clark Elementary?
The District is seeking MULTIPLE PARAPROFESSIONALS for the Elementary Summer Academy Program. The program will begin July 7th and run through July 31st. Tentative hours will be 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.
Please plan on attending a planning meeting in May. Please provide a letter of intent outlining your interest and the ages/grades you would be interested in working with.

INTERVIEW WILL TENTATIVELY BE HELD AT THE END OF FEBRUARY 2025
SUMMARY:
The Summer Academy Instructional Assistant will assist the teacher in guiding students to successfully complete proficiency-based online credit recovery courses during Summer Academy sections. The instructional assistant will assist with monitoring program components, providing individualize instruction as needed, and assist with managing student behavior.
2025 SUMMER ACADEMY: Currently, Summer Academy is being planned to include four days/week, mornings only, during the month of July 2025. Additional hours will be provided to support planning and preparation prior to the beginning of Summer Academy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work experience with students in a school setting required.
- Appropriate education and/or experience to qualify as Highly Qualified in accordance with ESSA standards.
- Demonstrates command of oral and written English language.
- Ability to effectively present information to students.
- Excellent student management and problem solving skills.
- Ability to establish positive working relationships students and collegues.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Board policies.
- School-based work with elementary students preferred, but not required.
- Experience with supporting reading/writing/math instruction preferred.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Experience in supporting enrichment activities as directed by the teacher preferred.
SALARY: Regular hourly rate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT WHICH MAY INCLUDE:
- In a four-hour day the employee may:
- Stand/walk 2 – 4 hours
- Talk/hear 1 – 4 hours
- Sit 2 – 4 hours
- The employee may occasionally:
- Bend/kneel/squat/reach
- Use hands for repetitive motions
- Lift, push, pull and hold items up to fifty pounds
- The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud.
