Earthwork Foreman Job Description
The Earthwork Foreman plays a crucial role in the Company's operations, overseeing field assignments across four service lines: Remediation, Waste Transportation, Industrial Maintenance, and Emergency Response.
Main Responsibilities:
- Review work plans and equipment requirements to ensure efficient project execution.
- Ensure quality control and quality assurance standards are met, adhering to regulatory guidelines.
- Optimize the utilization of Lewis-owned resources and equipment when feasible.
- Maintain proper use and upkeep of assigned equipment.
- Apply knowledge of hand signals, soil management principles, excavation safety, benching and sloping techniques.
- Familiarity with trench and excavation safety protocols.
- Operate various types of equipment, including multi-manufactured mini-excavators, Bobcat, Case, Cat, John Deere, and skid loaders.
- Efficiently operate equipment attachments, such as different control patterns.
- Complete daily notes and company paperwork accurately, including obtaining customer signatures on time and material sheets.
- Pursue personal accreditations, including field sampling procedures, hazardous materials handling, CDL endorsements, tank handling certifications, and other specialties identified by management.
- Protect confidential information and uphold the standards of conduct outlined in the company handbook.
- Implement disciplinary action policies as defined in the company handbook.
- Cultivate open communication between departments for job needs and requirements, providing updates by noon-time of the current workday.
- Assist with secondary responsibilities as requested by management.
- Participate in monthly field employee meetings to foster good communication.
- Commit to teamwork, supporting all aspects of daily activities to ensure the profitability and sustained growth of the corporation.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in a comparable position within an Environmental Contracting Company.
- A clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Criminal Background.
- A valid Driver's License.
- Flexibility in their personal schedule, including weekend on-call rotations.
- A strong focus on Safety, Quality, Honesty, Integrity, and Teamwork.
- 40 Hours OSHA and related Safety Training is preferred, but will be provided if necessary.
- A DOT Medical certification is required, with testing provided (drug, alcohol, physical).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift 60 lbs.
- Capacity to work in severe weather conditions, both hot and cold.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
- Working and traveling in inclement weather.
- Ability to stand and exert physical effort performing manual labor 50-70% of the time.
- Tolerance for moderate noise levels.
