Lewis Rice LLC, a large downtown St. Louis law firm, has an opening for an Asbestos Paralegal. This
position requires an undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience. A minimum of five years of litigation experience and a Paralegal certificate are preferred.
Qualified candidates will have the following: organizational skills, the ability to proactively manage
deadlines, critical thinking skills, the ability to work independently and on a team, hybrid work
competency, writing skills, the ability to communicate professionally, and the ability to utilize
technology resources to support clients and attorneys.
The hours of the position are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The position offers an excellent salary
commensurate with experience and an excellent comprehensive benefits package, including major

Responsibilities
- Reviews documents provided by clients or other parties at the request of asbestos
- attorneys
- Prepares, organizes, and maintains files
- Conducts research
- Assists attorneys with preparation for trials, hearings, closings, and other matters
- Prepares graphic aids, tables, slides, and other audio/visual devices for attorneys
- Utilize Litigation Technology resources as support for clients and attorneys
- Other tasks as requested by the attorney and/or supervisor
- Must maintain confidentiality of client matters
Education and Experience Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience
- A minimum of five years of experience and a Paralegal certificate are preferred
- Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, materials, and practices of legal research is required
- Knowledge of various Litigation Technology programs
- Extensive writing skills, particularly the ability to prepare memoranda and other legal documents, are required
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Computer Programs (particularly Microsoft Word and
- Microsoft Excel) and the Internet
- Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills are required
- Knowledge of general office procedures is required; knowledge of law firm office procedures is preferred
- Ability to deal tactfully, effectively, and professionally with staff, attorneys, court officials, other government officials, and the general public is required
