Lewis Rice LLC., a large downtown St. Louis Law Firm has an opening for a Billing Specialist. This position will be responsible for a portion of the firm’s legal billing and provide support with a variety other accounting related duties. This position works a 35-hour work week, offers an excellent salary commensurate with experience and an excellent comprehensive benefits package including major medical plans, 401(k) plan and paid parking.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform billing for selected attorneys and clients.
- Process e-bill submissions for clients.
- Track status of billing, making sure attorneys have returned edited proformas with billing instructions.
- Track e-billing adjustments and appeals to ensure they have been submitted successfully.
- Make suggestions for training/process improvements.
- Answer billing questions and research billing issues.
- Collaborate with attorneys and clients to resolve billing discrepancies
- Assist with accounts receivable follow up.
- Other duties as requested by the CFO.
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of one year legal billing experience in a law firm is preferred.
- Associates Degree in Accounting or Business Administration (Accounting emphasis) is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Mathematical and analytical skills required to identify and resolve billing issues.
- Must be highly detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to deal professionally and courteously with attorneys, staff, vendors and clients while observing confidentiality of client and firm matters.
- Ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize tasks.
- Ability to use accounting information systems, Excel, Word, and other supporting software and related equipment.
- Work occasionally requires more than 35 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position during times of high billing volume.
