Job Description Summary | Reporting to the Director of Mission and Ministry and collaborating closely with the Associate Director and University Chaplain, the Liturgical Music Minister is responsible for preparing for and leading the performance of music for Sunday liturgies at Sancta Alberta Chapel and special ceremonies throughout the academic year. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the spiritual growth of our community through music. |

Responsibilities | Responsible to model the University Mission through dedicated job performance, service excellence to constituencies, respectful collaboration, and active support of the University's Mission in Catholic and Lasallian higher education. -Participate in the weekly Liturgical Life Committee meetings (and other periodic meetings or gatherings with the Mission and Ministry staff) and collaborate with committee members on the musical selections for upcoming liturgies based on the discussed themes or topics. -Recruit and develop student, faculty, and staff vocalists and instrumentalists for participation in liturgical music ministry. -Host a weekly practice for vocalists and instrumentalists in addition to the pre-Mass practice session and provide musical direction and guidance to the performers. - Effectively teach new music in both group and individual settings and prepare and distribute copies of music and a song list for musicians and vocalists. -Prepare and perform musical selections for annual ceremonies like the President's Recognition for Student Excellence in Mission and other unique events that occur. |
Minimum Qualifications | -Bachelor's degree in music is preferred, but consideration given for equivalent experience. -Demonstrates knowledge and experience of Catholic liturgy and worship. -Proficiency in playing musical instruments, specifically strong keyboard skills required, vocal skills required; ability to play and sing at Mass independently when necessary (and also accompany); other instrument skills a plus. -Previous experience in leading a music ministry or choir. -Ability to select appropriate music for each liturgy and liturgical season, drawing from traditional and contemporary styles, choosing songs the congregation can readily sing. |
